Sedation

Extra help relaxing, when your child needs it.

For very nervous kids, bigger treatment, or children who need extra support: sedation can make a hard visit feel doable. Dr. Dawood will talk you through what fits your child.

For parents

Sedation is never the first step — calm care is. When patience, tell-show-do and breaks aren't enough, Dr. Dawood may talk with you about sedation. Every option starts with an assessment of your child's health and the treatment they need. Your child is monitored the whole time, and you'll get clear instructions for before and after the visit.

For kids

“With laughing gas you breathe through a little nose mask and feel floaty and relaxed. You stay awake the whole time, and it wears off fast.”

What happens

Assessment first

We start by understanding your child: their health, their worries and the treatment they need. Then we talk through the options, benefits and risks together.

Nitrous oxide, available now

Often called laughing gas. Your child breathes it through a small nose mask, stays awake, and it wears off within minutes after the mask comes off.

IV sedation — coming soon

We're adding IV sedation by the end of the year. It isn't available yet; when it is, it will start with the same assessment first. Ask us when you book and we'll tell you the latest.

Comfort comes with it

Sedation adds to calm care, never replaces it: tell-show-do, a stop signal your child controls, breaks when they need them, and you close by.

Parents ask

Is sedation safe for children?

Nitrous oxide is widely used in pediatric dentistry and wears off within minutes after the mask comes off. Whatever the option, it starts with an assessment, your child is monitored throughout, and Dr. Dawood will check whether it's a good fit for your child.

When will IV sedation be available?

We're adding IV sedation by the end of the year, and it isn't available yet. Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) is available now. Ask us when you book and we'll tell you the latest.
