Calm care

Nervous is normal. We plan for it.

For nervous kids: tell-show-do, distraction, breaks and a stop signal your child controls — patience first, always.

For parents

Most kids do great with patience and a team that explains everything first. When a child is very anxious or needs more treatment, Dr. Dawood will talk you through calm-care options and help you choose what's right for your child.

For kids

“Laughing gas smells a little like a fruit and makes you feel floaty and relaxed. You stay awake the whole time.”

What happens

Tell-show-do

We tell your child what's next, show them the tool, then do it. No surprises.

Distraction & breaks

Stories, counting games and a stop signal your child controls.

Nitrous oxide

Often called laughing gas. Your child breathes it through a small nose mask, stays awake, and it wears off quickly.

When calm care isn't enough

For some children and treatments, Dr. Dawood may recommend sedation. She'll explain the benefits and risks first. Read more on our sedation page.

Parents ask

Is laughing gas safe for children?

Nitrous oxide is widely used in pediatric dentistry and wears off within minutes after the mask comes off. Dr. Dawood will check whether it's a good fit for your child.

Can I stay with my child?

Yes, parents are welcome. We'll let you know if a different approach would help your child more for a particular visit.
